MOSI (Manchester Museum of Science and Industry) MOSI is one of the UK's best science museums, offering excellent visitor experience. It hosts some of the most advanced and interactive exhibitions in the UK.
They have agreed to promote NHS donor cards to visitors who attend the exhibition. This is possibly the first time this has happened at a Body Worlds show.
MOSI is a private company limited by guarantee. The Trust is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). DCMS follows the Office of National Statistics in classifying the Museum as a Central Government Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB). The Museum therefore has to comply with certain reporting requirements and disclosures. It is a registered charity with the Charity Commission (number 518412) and its company registration number is 2067804.
MOSI is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). To make sure public money is being used appropriately, the government sets MOSI targets every year.
As far as we know, it is the first time in the UK that a publicly funded body has planned to take millions of pounds by showing corpses in a commercial exhibition. In Scotland this could not happen without a vote by Scottish MPs.
Dr Ian Griffin, Director of MOSI said: "I'm delighted that Gunther von Hagens has chosen to premier the latest Body Worlds exhibition at MoSI in Manchester. This is a unique insight into the beauty and complexity of the human body, and a chance to experience first hand the impact of poor health and lifestyle choices on our bodies."
"Body Worlds is a fantastic way to encourage people to change their lifestyles as it clearly demonstrates to people the effects of health problems such as obesity and heart disease, which are widespread in Britain, particularly in large cities such as Manchester. The exhibition's educational benefits build on current UK-wide government campaigns to tackle these conditions. The Manchester exhibition is the first time such a complex range of plastinates has been shown in Europe, and we expect Body Worlds 4 to be an extremely popular exhibition, so reserve your tickets now!"
